8. ADJUSTMENTS

8.1. Gripper Adjustments

A. Gripper Pressure Adjustment
The gripper pressure adjustment may be necessary to prevent damage to weaker wire insulation.
The gripper pressure should be as high as possible to prevent the operator from pulling a bad termination out of the
NOTE
machine before it is cut off by the DCC terminator.
i
To see the pressure level on the gage, the DCC terminator must be "powered up." Enter the step mode and
close the grip jaws (the first step). This will close the grip jaw and the pressure will be displayed on the gage
next to the gripper pressure regulator.
Increase the pressure by pulling the lock knob away from the machine and turning the knob clockwise.
Push the lock knob back toward the machine after adjustment.
Decrease the pressure by pulling the lock knob away from the machine and turning the knob counter-
clockwise. Push the lock knob back toward the machine after adjustment.
B. Jaw Height Adjustment
It may be necessary to adjust the gripper jaw height due to differences in applicator wire stops and shears.
The jaw height should be set at a level that allows the wire to touch the wire stop during termination, but also
doesn't interfere with the wire during transfer over to the wire cut blades in the event of a bad termination.
1. Complete a termination cycle in the step mode.
2. Observe if the jaw was set at the correct height.
3. To change the jaw height:
a. Open the guards.
