Rack Installation Requirements

Power Distribution Units (Vertical Type)
This section explains the requirements for connecting a power distribution unit (vertical type) with the ETERNUS
DX8700 S3/DX8900 S3.
Keep the total current consumption of power cords that connect to outlets OUT1 to OUT8 within 24A for each

power distribution unit when connecting.
Connect to the outlets using the connection order to the power distribution units which is the same as the

installation order in the rack.
When connecting a new enclosure, if the total current consumption of each power distribution unit exceeds

24A, connect to the next power distribution unit.

• For mainframe connections, power distribution units (vertical type) cannot be installed. Power distribution
units (horizontal type) must be selected.
