Assembly
Lubricate the gudgeon pin's needle
bearing with a few drops of engine oil.
Fit the piston so that the piston ring's
locking pin comes opposite the inlet
port.
Press in the gudgeon pin and fit the
circlips.
Check the play on the connecting rod
both by the gudgeon pin and the
crankshaft. There should be no play.
Replace the crankshaft if there is play.
Check that the pulse channel (A) in the
cylinder is not clogged, for example by
grease.
Check for wear in the crankshaft
bearings and sealing rings.
Clean the bearings and rotate the outer
ring. If movement is "jerky" the bearing
race is probably damaged. If so,
replace the bearings.
Also check that the gap is not too great.
Inspect the sealing rings. The seal edge
shall be sharp or slightly ground.
Lubricate the piston and the big-end
bearing with a few drops of engine oil
and carefully slide the piston in the
cylinder.
Place a thin bead of sealing compound
on the lower crankcase half and place
in position.
Tighten the 4 screws diagonally
crosswise.
Check that the crankshaft can be
turned easily without jamming.
Leakage test the crankcase.
Fit a sealing plate (A) between the
cylinder and muffler. Slide it down
between the screws as far as it will go.
Fit another sealing plate (B) over the
inlet port. Secure it with the help of the
sealing pad (C) 502 50 48-01.
Make sure that the sealing plate is
pushed well down between the screws
so it covers the pulse channel.
