Hot-pluggable hard disk drives

8.2
Hot-pluggable hard disk drives
Up to four hot pluggable hard disk drives can be installed in the PRIMERGY
TX150 S5 server.
The hot pluggable hard disk drives are fitted in a hard disk drive carrier, which
allows new drives to be added and defective drives to be replaced during
operation of the server. The hard disk drive and the carrier make up the hard
disk drive module (HDD module).
V
CAUTION!
Only a service engineer is permitted to remove a hard disk drive from the
carrier.
V
CAUTION!
The HDD modules must be marked clearly so that they can be replaced
in their original slots after an upgrade. If this is not done, existing data can
be lost.
V
CAUTION!
The hot plug function is only possible in conjunction with a corresponding
RAID configuration.
Further information about RAID configuration or the RAID level can be
found in the RAID controller documentation (see
page
103).
V
CAUTION!
To prevent damage to the connectors and loss of data, only SATA hard
disks may be used in the SATA basic variant.
To prevent damage to the connectors and loss of data, only SAS or SATA
hard disks may be used in the SAS basic variant.
The assembly brackets for the hard disks are identical for all the basic
variants.
