For optimum performance of the Mars HD, please read the following safety precautions carefully: ▶To avoid the risk of fire, do not use the Mars HD near excessive heat or operate for prolonged periods in direct sunlight. ▶Avoid contact with liquids and exposure to moisture.
3. Setting up Your Mars HD 3.1 Getting Started Take the Mars HD out of the ZOOMAX carrying case. Place the unit on a stable horizontal surface. 3.2 Unfolding Your Mars HD Hold the Mars HD in both hands. Pull the arm connected to the camera head gently to a horizontal position as shown in Figure 1 below.

Figure 4 4. Guidelines for Use 4.1 General Guidelines ▶ Use the Mars HD only on a stable horizontal surface, such as a solid desk or a table. ▶ Only use the power supply provided with the Mars HD. Using any other power supply will void the warranty and may cause damage to the unit.

User's Guide f. Focus Lock Function: The focus lock feature is useful when you do not want the Mars HD to readjust focus based on movement beneath the camera, such as when you are writing. To activate the focus lock, press and hold the Freeze button until you hear a beep, then release it.

Tip: If you are reading a thick book under the camera, the unit may fail to focus on the text. In this case, try elevating your Mars HD by placing a monitor riser or a large book under the unit.

Zoomax Mars HD-Portable Video Magnifier User's Guide Full color mode is the default color mode, but you can select and store four favorite contrast color modes from 16 available color modes. Press the Mode button to select this function. A color mode menu, shown in Figure 7, shows on the screen.

Press the Mode button to exit the menu. NOTE: If your Mars HD is connected to a PC or a Mac, you cannot activate the menu mode via the buttons. Instead, you need to use keyboard shortcuts to realize the above functions in the menu mode.

Zoomax Mars HD-Portable Video Magnifier User's Guide 5.2 Opening the Software From the Windows “Start” menu, choose “All Programs” and click on ZoomaxViewer.exe. The following screen will appear, which means your software was successfully installed.
5.3 Powering on the Mars HD While Connected to a PC Start up your PC as normal. Plug one end of the USB cable into your PC and the opposite end into your Mars HD. Power on the unit and then open the ZoomaxViewer software.

User's Guide 6. Mac Software 6.1 Software Requirements Before installing the Mars HD software on your Mac, you should first change your system security settings. Access the “System Preferences” and then click the “Security & Privacy” icon. On the General tab, select the option to “Allow apps downloaded...
6.2 Software Installation To install Mars HD on your Mac, insert the USB flash disk containing the software into one of your Mac’s USB ports. Browse the drive to the “ZoomaxViewer-MAC” folder and drag the “ZoomaxViewer” ZIP file into your preferred location on your computer.
