When viewing records from the data logger, there may be more than one data
series on a given date. The instrument is designed to preserve every data
record in its memory and avoids the possibility of losing data. Any interruption
of data logging which results in missed samples causes a new data series to
be initiated. In other words, the instrument does not add false data into, or
discard data from, its memory in order to account for time lapses. Instead, its
records for the current data series are 'sealed off,' and a new series is begun
at the new time. The result is that there could be more than one data series
with the same date, but starting at different times. Interruptions to data logging
can originate from a loss of power or changing the on-off-reset control to "Off."
Another consideration for data logging integrity is what happens when the
instrument date, time or sampling rate is changed. Changing the instrument
date does not affect data logging, except to change the date of the current
series. The series is not interrupted; only the date associated with the current
series is changed. However, changing the instrument time (on the Main
Display), or sample rate (see
series, starting at the new time.
The SYS menu contains two parameters labeled "Gpot," and "ADC."
The Gpot parameter displays the current setting of the digital Gain
Potentiometer which can range from 200 to 511. This setting represents the
amount of gain required by the instrument for the particular probe attached
and is set automatically by the instrument during SPAN calibration.
Note: The Gpot setting should not be set by the operator under normal operating
conditions. If the operator were to change the Gpot value, an "INSTUMENT NOT
CALIBRATED" Check Alarm would set, indicating the loss of proper calibration.
