OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE

Seed / Grass Seed Box

1. The grain drill may equipped with the optional grass
seed attachment for planting small seeds and
grasses. The main seed box is divided into two
compartments, the front of the box used for larger
seeds and the rear of the main box used for small
seeds. The seed box is divided approximately a 60%
(2bu/ft) for the front of the box and 40% (1.25bu/ft)
for the rear grass seed. The seed box may be used
as a combination seed / grass seed box, or
converted to use both compartments to hold seed for
the main seeding meters.
2. To use the combination seed /grass seed box option,
the covers in the bottom of the rear seed
compartment are installed over the openings in the
divider panels between the front and rear boxes.
Install the covers with the notches towards the top of
the seed box (See Figure 4-30.)

3. To convert from the seed/grass seed configuration to
the all seed configuration, the panels are installed
over the top of the grass seed meters and allow grain
to flow into the forward seed compartment.
a. Remove the black plastic knobs, washers, and
covers attached to the divider panels.
b. Move the black spring nuts from the divider
panels to the cover brackets just above the
agitator shaft in the grass seed meter assembly.
c. Install the covers over the top of the grass seed
meters with the cover notches inserted through
the divider panel to the main seed hopper.
d. Secure the covers with the black plastic knobs
and washers.
4. Reverse the above procedure to convert the boxes
back to seed/grass seed configuration.
