Grass Seed Meter/Rate Handle
Adjustment
1. If the grass seed meter shaft assembly is
disassembled for maintenance or repair, the grass
seed meters and adjustment handle will need to be
reset or zeroed to set the meters equally across the
seed box.

2. To reset the seed meters, reassemble the grass seed
meters and drive shaft assembly, but leave the
locking set collars, spool, and seed rate adjustment
handle loose on the shaft. Leave the drive chain
disconnected as well.
a. Starting from the left end of the shaft, lock the
very left end set collar to the shaft.
b. Slide the entire shaft assembly to the right, this
should fully close the grass seed meter on the
left (See Figure 4-29.)
c. Slide the right locking set collar next to the meter
feed roll (leaving .010"-.020") of clearance and
tighten the set collar.
d. Place a clamp on the end of the shaft with the
sprocket to hold the shaft to the right, and the
grass seed meter fully closed.
e. Individually slide each meter to the right (closing
the meter) and tighten the lock collars, leaving
the appropriate clearance on the right side of
each meter assembly.
f.
Loosen the grass seed adjustment scale, center
on the mount, and retighten scale.
g. Slide the adjustment handle to zero, and tighten
the handle locking nut to hold in place.
h. Tighten the two set screws on the rate
adjustment spool to lock the spool to the meter
shaft.
i.
Remove the clamp, and loosen the handle
locking nut. Move the handle to the right and left
to make sure the shaft slides freely.
j.
Rotate the shaft sprocket by hand to verify the
shaft is not binding and rotates freely.
k. Reconnect the drive chain.
l.
Set the seed rate adjustment handle to the
desired rate and tighten the handle locking nut.

The seed meters should now be reset to zero, and
match the zero indication on the handle.
