Before You Begin

Your new ADSL (Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line) modem
uses the same telephone wiring already in place in your home or
office. However, before you can use any type of DSL modem, you
must make arrangements with a DSL Service Provider. A DSL
service technician may visit you to physically test the wiring for
DSL compatibility. Sometimes, special filtering equipment will
need to be installed in your home or office.
In this guide, we assume you have already done the following:
•
Contacted your DSL Service Provider and arranged for DSL
service provisioning.
•
Scheduled DSL installation at the site where you will use your
computer and ensured that the DSL service technician labeled
the jacks that can provide DSL access in your home or office.
