14. "Short to ground" and "Coils shorted
together" test
9 Disconnect the stator assembly (main
coil) leads, stator assembly (sub coil)
coupler, and exciter field coil coupler.
Set the meter to the highest ohm setting.
"Short to ground test"
Connect the - lead to the stator housing
and + lead to any wire of the main coil.
Repeat same procedure with the sub and
exciter field coils.
"Coils shorted together test"
Connect the - lead to any wire of main coil
and + lead to either green wire on the sub
coil.
9 Measure resistance.
All tests should read an open circuit or dis-
continuity; any other reading indicates a
defective main coil assembly or exciter field
coil.
