You avoid risks when you:
enable or disable the front-passenger
R
front airbag correctly.
position the child restraint system favour-
R
ably.
A warning notice is located on the front-
passenger sun visor.

WARNING
If you secure a child in a child restraint
system on the front-passenger seat and
the PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp
is off, the front-passenger front airbag can
deploy in the event of an accident. The
child could be struck by the airbag. This
poses an increased risk of injury or even
fatal injury.
Make sure that the front-passenger front
airbag has been disabled. The PASSENGER
AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp must be lit.
NEVER use a rearward-facing child
restraint on a seat protected by an ACTIVE
AIRBAG in front of it; DEATH or SERIOUS
INJURY to the child can occur.
Always observe the notes on transporting
children safely (

page 40).
Notes on rearward and forward facing
child restraint systems

If you secure a child in a rearward-facing
child restraint system on the co-driver's
seat, you must always make sure that the
front-passenger front airbag is deactivated.
This is only the case if the PASSENGER AIR
BAG OFF indicator lamp is lit continuously

When using a child restraint system on the
co-driver's seat you must observe the fol-
lowing:
move the co-driver's seat as far back as
R
possible.
the surface of the child restraint system
R
must lie fully on the co-driver's seat cush-
ion.
the backrest of a forward-facing child
R
restraint system must, as far as possible,
rest on the backrest of the co-driver's seat.
The child restraint system must not touch
the roof or be subjected to a load by the
head restraint.
adjust the angle of the backrest appropri-
R
ately.
if necessary, remove the head restraint on
R
the front-passenger seat.
always make sure that the shoulder belt
R
strap is correctly routed from the vehicle
belt sash guide to the shoulder belt guide
on the child restraint system. The shoulder
belt strap must be routed forwards and
downwards from the belt sash guide.
never place objects under or behind the
R
child restraint system, e.g. cushions.
