Inserting the Drill Bit

Make sure the power cord is unplugged from power mains before inserting
the drill bit or other cutting tool or replace it.
Only chuck cylindrical tools with the suitable shaft diameter into the drill
chuck. Make sure the drill bits or cutting tools are sharp and without dam-
ages.
When inserting the drill bit into the drill chuck (C) and tightening with the drill
chuck key (V), make sure that all three jaws of the drill chuck clamp the drill
bit evenly and hold it in place. Remove the drill chuck key.
Attention: Never leave the drill chuck key inserted in the drill chuck. There is
risk of injury!
To prolong the self life of drill bits, use appropriate cooling agents, especially
when drilling thick and hard materials.
Do not wear gloves when inserting or replacing drill bits or cutting tools.

Clamping the Work Piece

In the table and the base plate you will find mounting holes for fastening
clamping tools. Always use these holes to clamp the work pieces resp. to fix
clamping devices, e. g. machine vice. Always clamp the work piece in the
clamping tool.
Attention: Do not hold the work piece with your hand when drilling.
Hints
1. Only insert the drill bit up to approx. 25 – 30 mm into the drill chuck. Place
small drill bits only up to morse taper and make sure the jaws of the drill
chuck does not clamp the chip flute of the drill bit.
2. Centre the drill bit before closing the drill chuck. First clamp smaller work
pieces in the machine vice and fix the machine vice with the provided holes in
the drill table.
