1. Position Lever & Brkt. Asm. In

Clamp Pawl Rod (A) against Point of Contact
(B) of detent. See View A«
2. Align slot of Contact Support (D) with . 0 9 3 /
• 097 dia. "DRIVE" hole In Switch Asm. In-
sert Pin (C) to a minimum depth of .25 to
hold Contact Support in place. See View A*
3. Assemble Switch Asm. to Lever & Brkt Asm
with Tang of Lever (E) engaged in slot of
Contact Support (D)*
4. Tighten mounting screws using recommended
torque.
5. Remove Clamp and Pin (C)..

RECOMMENDED INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. Position shift lever in "Neutral. "
2. Move lever forward to remove all play in
linkage. -CAUTIONl Do not move out of
detent in transmission.
3. Turn ignition switch to "Start." Engine
must start but vehicle must not move. Shut
off engine.
4. Repeat procedure by moving lever rear-
ward*
5. Position shift lever in

Reverse".
6. Move lever rearward to remove all play in
linkage. 1 CAUTION! Do not move out of
detent in transmission.
7. Turn ignition switch to "Start". Engine must
not start.
8. Position shift lever in "Drive".
9. Move lever forward to remove all play in
linkage. 1 CAUTION] Do not move out of
detent in transmission.
10. Turn ignition switch to "Start". Engine must
not start.
