■ When the vehicle approach
notification device is abnormal
 When there is a problem with the
vehicle approach report device, the
indicator light in the above figure will
flash.
→ page 1-15 (indicator light)
 When the system is normal, it
lights for about 4 seconds and turns
off after the engine switch is turned
on.
Handling of ESP® equipped vehicles
ESP® (*) is a system that comprehensively
controls ABS, brake assist, traction control,
stability control (sideslip prevention function),
etc. to assist the running stability of the vehicle.
※ ESP® is Electronic Stability Program
(Electronic Stability Program), it is a
registered trademark of Daimler AG.
■ ABS (anti-lock brake System)
Please read page 4-36.
■ Brake assist
It is the same as brake assist of ABS.

■ Traction control

It is an auxiliary function to prevent
excessive idle running of the driving

wheels during starting and acceleration
on a slippery road surface by brake
control and engine output control to
ensure proper driving force.
■ Stability control (sides lip
prevention function)
It is a function to supplement the running
stability of the vehicle by suppressing the
side slip of the car when performing a steep
handle operation or turning on a slippery
road surface.
Always check the surrounding situation
and strive for safe driving. There is a limit
to the control by ESP®.
Observe the following.
Failure to observe this may cause the
ESP® to malfunction or lead to
malfunction.
Adjust tire air pressure to specified
air pressure
