• Guide the tool bit always in the direction of the
material in which the cutting edge leaves the
material (corresponds to the direction in which
the chips are thrown out). Guiding the power
tool in the wrong direction may cause the tool
bit to break out of the workpiece, which then
pulls the power tool in this feed direction.
• Always clamp the workpiece firmly during use,
especially when using cutting wheels. Even if
there is a slight tilting in the groove, the tool bits
may get jammed and cause kickback. When a
cutting wheel gets jammed, it usually breaks. For
example, if rotary files, milling tools get jammed,
the tool bit can jump out of the groove and re-
sult in loss of control over the power tool.
Specific safety instructions for grinding and
abrasive cutting
• Use only wheels approved for your power tool
and for the recommended applications. Exam-
ple: Never grind with the side face of a cutting
wheel. Cutting wheels are intended for remov-
ing material with the edge of the wheel. A later-
al force on the wheel can break it.
