– that – if possible – a certified "BGA" program
(at least 10 minutes at 93°C) is used for the thermal
disinfection (chemical disinfection can result in disin-
fectant residues in the nebulizer),
– that the selected program is suitable for the nebulizer
and works with sufficient rinsing cycles,
– that rinsing is only done with sterile and low-germ
water (maximum 10 germs / ml). Moreover, ensu-
re a sufficiently low endotoxin and particle load
(e.g.aqua purificata as per the regulations of the
Pharm. Eur. Or USP).
– that only filtered air is used for drying
– that the disinfector is regularly maintained and veri-
fied.
When selecting the used cleaning agent system you
have to take care
– that this system is basically suitable for the cleaning
of the nebulizers (plastics),
– that – if no thermal disinfection is used – a suitable
disin fectant with certified effectiveness (e.g. DGHM-
VAH listing resp. CE-labeling) is added and that it is
compatible with the used cleansing agent,
– that the used chemicals are compatible with the
nebulizers.
It is imperative to follow the dosage recommendations
from the manufacturer of the cleansing agent and – if
necessary – of the disinfectant.
