6 Communication Networks

6.1 TIA/RS-232 Communication Port

Opticom™ GPS System Phase Selectors have four
TIA/RS-232 communication ports. These ports
have a default baud rate of 115200 baud, but may
be set to transmission rates of 1200, 2400, 4800,
9600, 19200, 38400, or 57600 bps via the
configuration software. The operating protocol of
these ports may also be set via the configuration
software.
The modem port (available with the AIP) has a
default baud rate of 9600. See Table 5-7 for a pin-
out of the modem port as well as the other RS-232
port (Opticom Port).
The connector for the front panel communication
port is an industry-standard DB-9 connector. The
pin assignments for the connector are listed in
Table 6-1.
The table also lists the pin assignments for the
TXD (transmit data) and RXD (receive data)
signals available on the rear edge connector of the
phase selector.

6.2 Rear Edge Communication Port

When shipped from the factory, the rear edge
communication port is not enabled.

To enable the rear edge communication port,
remove the two jumpers from their storage
positions in positions 6 and 7 on J12 and place
them in positions 1 and 2 on J14. See Figure 6-1.
