It is essential for the safety of the user that if the product is re-sold outside the original country of destination the reseller shall provide instructions and additional relevant
information for use, for maintenance, for periodic examination and for repair in the language of the country in which the product is to be used.
Failure to follow these warnings or misuse can cause serious personal injuries or death.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
Lanyards are constructed from nylon/polyester webbing, nylon/polyester rope, galvanized steel wire rope or steel chain. All load bearing hardware is Zinc plated alloy Steel.
Strictly adhere to the cleaning instructions in this section to prevent adverse effects on the materials used in the lanyard. Clean the lanyard with a solution of water and mild
laundry detergent. Dry hardware with a clean cloth and hang lanyard to air dry. Do not speed dry with heat. Excessive accumulation of dirt, paint, or other foreign matter may
prevent proper function of the lanyard, and in severe cases, weaken the webbing. Questions concerning lanyard conditions for safe use and cleaning should be directed to
MSA.
Equipment which is damaged or in need of maintenance must be tagged as "UNUSABLE" and removed from service. Corrective maintenance (other than cleaning) and
repair, such as replacement of elements, must be performed by the MSA factory. Do not attempt field repairs.
Store the lanyard in a cool, dry and clean place out of direct sunlight. Avoid areas where heat, moisture, light, oil, and chemicals or their vapours or other degrading elements
may be present. Equipment which is damaged or in need of maintenance should not be stored in the same area as usable equipment. Heavily soiled, wet, or otherwise
contaminated equipment should be properly maintained (e.g. dried and cleaned) prior to storage. Prior to using equipment which has been stored for long periods of time,
a formal inspection should be performed by a competent person.
Transport the lanyard in a package to protect it from cuts, moisture, chemicals and their vapours, extreme temperatures, and ultraviolet rays.
The maximum lifespan of the product is 10 years under condition that the product was not in use or very seldom in use and optimal storing conditions. However, the primary
indicator of fitness for use is the regular inspection of the product. Any product that does not pass inspection must be removed from service immediately regardless of its
age. The following factors reduce the performance of the product and its lifespan: incorrect storage, incorrect use, wear and tear, contact with chemicals (acids and alkalis),
exposure to high temperatures and UV radiation. More frequent inspections are required in these environments.
