CAMBox initialization

Warning - risk of trapping fingers!
If controller release has been deactivated, in
the event of loss of power (e.g. as a result of
pressing the EMERGENCY stop button) or on
exiting from the configuration routine, the
pre-tension of the CAMBox may cause the
flywheel to suddenly start turning.
Never perform any service work on the
power supply system during checking or
calibration.
Secure the EPS control unit to prevent
unintentional actuation.
Move the camshaft to bottom dead center
in the event of any interruptions or on exit-
ing from the dialog box.
Procedure:
1. In the "Meas. funcs." menu, select the Adapter
install. function.
2. Compare the CAMBox reference value in the "Adapter
install." dialog box to the CAMBox reference value on
the CAMBox. If the value is not the same, transfer the
value from the CAMBox to the CAMBox reference value
input box and save with <F4>.
3. Close the test oil inlet cock.
4. Switch on the EPS converter and the test oil pump on
the EPS control unit.
i
Do not activate the lubricating oil supply for
initialization purposes.
5. Release the controller on the EPS control unit.
6. Start the EPS with <F8>. The following message
appears in the system software info line:
No CAMBox reference pulse. Start
reference pulse search with F7
Initialization (n=30 1/min).
i
If this message does not appear, the CAMBox has
already been initialized.

7. Call up the "Angle funct." menu with <F7> and select
the Initialization function.
 The EPS drive starts up (speed 30 min

Following successful initialization, the EPS moves
the cam of the CAMBox to the 0° cam position
(0° circle of the cam). At the same time the
following message appears in the info line:
CAMBox reference point run active.
CAMBox positioning in 0° circle of
cam for mechanical strain relief
8. Read off the calibration value once the cam of
the CAMBox has reached its 0° cam position. The
calibration value must be in the range between 12°
and 18°.
If the calibration value is outside the specified range,
repeat initialization as described in Step 7 and check
the calibration value again. The rotary encoder B31
must be re-adjusted if the calibration value is still
outside the specified range.

The CAMBox is ready for further testing.
