IMPORTANT: Refer to the specific operating system information you received for details.
NOTE: This information provides what you need to begin an operating system installation.
Once you have started an installation, follow the on-screen instructions, which may differ
slightly form what is documented here.
NOTE: You will need the following media, which was shipped with you system with your
system, to perform a Windows NT installation: backup CD (either QC-07QAA-H8, for
English, Dutch, French, Italian, German, and Spanish kits or QC-07QJA-H8, for Japanese
kits); 1.44-MB diskette containing the ATAPI driver and the HAL (hardware abstraction
layer), (AK-REQP*-CA). You will need a diskette with an ESS driver. It is not mandatory
that you have the ESS diskette driver for the NT installation. You can add the ESS driver
after you complete the installation.
IMPORTANT: In the part number AK-REQP*-CA, the "*" refers to Rev A or higher.
This chapter describes how to install an operating system; set up partitions for
a Microsoft Windows NT installation; and update firmware.
Refer to
operating system on a properly partitioned and formatted disk; see
for instructions on setting up partitions for an NT installation. Refer to Table
2-3 for instructions on installing the Compaq Tru64 UNIX operating system.
