Using the Flash Update Utility from AlphaBIOS
You may update the firmware by either using the supplied backup CD (QC-
07QAA-H8 or QC-07QJA-H8) or by copying the firmware from the Internet
onto a 1.44-MB diskette.
Updating Firmware from AlphaBIOS
To update the firmware from AlphaBIOS using the firmware CD or 1.44-MB
diskette, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the Windows NT operating system and restart the system.
2. Insert the Firmware Update CD-ROM or a 1.44-MB diskette (prepared
as the next section describes) into the appropriate drive.
3. From the AlphaBIOS boot screen, press the [F2] key to enter
AlphaBIOS setup.
4. From the AlphaBIOS setup screen, select Upgrade AlphaBIOS.
HINT: AlphaBIOS verifies the system image and displays the old and
new firmware versions.
5. Follow the screen prompts to complete the update.
Preparing a Firmware 1.44-MB Diskette
If you have access to the network and have either lost the backup CD supplied
with your system or wish to obtain newer firmware, you may use an Internet
browser to copy the firmware from http://www.compaq.com. Follow the
directions outlined at the site.
