MOPEL 631 I/O CONTROLLER BOARD
GENERAL pESCRIPTION
The Model 631 I/O Controller has two asynchronous serial ports and three 8-bit
parallel ports.
The 8250 Asynchronous Communication Element (ACE) converts input serial data
from the RS-232C port to parallel data to be used by the system.
Output data
is converted from parallel to serial and placed on the RS-Z32C port.
The 8255 Programmable Peripheral Interface circuit interfaces the S-100 bus to
three 8-bit parallel ports, which are located at
13,
the 50 pin I/O connector at
the top of the card.
Each line is TIL buffered and provides for termination
networks.
The Model 631 I/O Controller consists of a single printed circuit board which
nominally occupies one slot in the Series 5000 or 8000 Computer Systems.
Each
serial RS -23ZC port is brought out to a 3M 26 pin header.

The mos t significant bits of the I/O addresses for the 631 board are selected at
location JA.
An address bit is a "1" if the shunt is removed, and a "0" if a
shunt is installed.
The correspondence of shunts to address bits is shown below.
The normal address is ZOH (AS unshunted, A6 and A7 shunted).
