Disengage the drag link by removing the balljoint (see "Replacing Ball Joints,

this section) at the top of the center
pivot.
Remove the steering wheel shaft connector nuts, one

and one

and lock washers.
Reach from under the wheel well to remove 3 gearbox mounting bolts and lock washers.
Slowly and carefully pull out the gearbox, steering arm and linkage through the hood opening.
