Configuring / Programming

9.1

Overview

PN/M-Bus LINK is configured in the TIA Portal. Configuration mainly comprises the following
steps:
1. Drag PN/M-Bus LINK from the hardware catalog to the project
2. Connect S7 controller and PN/M-Bus LINK via PROFINET
3. Set the PROFINET-specific parameters
4. Insert M-Bus devices
5. Configure device properties of the M-Bus devices
6. Check and compile the configuration
The following section contains a brief description of the configuration steps for
PN/M-Bus LINK.
The description is not based on a concrete example configuration. It is intended to explain
the basic method for configuring the PN/M-Bus LINK and to provide a quick introduction to
configuring the PN/M-Bus LINK.
The remarks refer to TIA Portal V15.

TIA Portal Devices & Networks
Requirement
Check whether the PN/M-Bus LINK is contained in the hardware catalog of the TIA Portal.
Otherwise, you must integrate the PN/M-Bus LINK by installing a GSDML file. The GSDML
file "GSDML-V2.32-Siemens-PN_MBUS_LINK-yyyymmdd.xml" is available for the TIA Portal
V15. If needed, you can contact your Siemens contact person
(mailto:customized.automation@siemens.com) to request the GSDML file.
The GSDML file is installed in the TIA Portal via "Options >
Manage generic description files (GSD)".
