Troubleshooting Guide continued
PROBLEM
Cylinder(s) will not retract or
extend.
Pump delivers excess oil
pressure.

CAUSE
1. Quick disconnect couplings
are not completely coupled.
A Double acting cylinder
or ram must have both
hoses and all couplers
securely connected to
both ports. If one of the
two ports is restricted or
becomes disconnected,
pressure will build and
the cylinder, hose or
coupler can burst,
possibly causing serious
injury or death.
2. Broken return spring in
spring return cylinder or
seals blown in double-acting
cylinder.
1. Faulty pressure gauge.
2. Relief valve not properly
set.

SOLUTION
1. Check quick disconnect
coupling to cylinders to
ensure that they are
completely coupled.
Occasionally couplers have
to be replaced because the
ball check does not stay
open due to wear.
2. Contact a Power Team
Authorized Hydraulic
Service Center.
1. Calibrate gauge.
