D-sub socket
The 9-pole D-sub socket is used for the communication between a PC and one or several
remote protection devices via the CC-2M. You can use the 7XV5100-4 DIGSI configuration
line for connecting the CC-2M to the PC via RS232. For a connection via RS485, Siemens
recommends using shielded bus cables of the type 7XV5103. The RS232/RS485 interface
is not shielded and therefore, it is only designed for the data transmission during commissio-
ning.

Figure 23 Connection plan via RS232 interface
If the RS485 interface is used, the CC-2M works as an RS485 repeater in a single-master
RS485 bus system and therefore, it can connect 2 RS485 busses. For this, the bus load
resistors on both ends of each RS485 bus must be activated. In the CC-2M, jumpers are
provided for the activation of the bus load resistors. The following figure shows a typical
connection plan via the RS485 interface.
