PROBLEM
Difficult starting

Your new snowthrower two (2) identifying numbers: (1) unit model number: (2) unit serial number. The two preceding numbers
are required to insure that the proper replacement parts are obtained when required. If you have any questions concerning
parts, service, or technical data, contact your nearest Sears Service Department.

TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART
LOOK FOR
Defective spark plug.
Blocked fuel line.
Empty gas tank.
Stale gasoline.
Water or dirt in fuel system.
Unit running on CHOKE.
Gas cap vent hole is plugged.
Loose parts or damaged
impeller.
Drive belt loose or damaged.
Incorrect adjustment of traction
drive cable.
Worn or damaged friction disc.
Auger drive belt loose or
damaged.
Auger control cable not adjusted
correctly.
Broken shear pin.
Discharge chute clogged.
Foreign object lodged in auger.
Identifying Your Snowthrower
Replace defective spark plug.
Clean fuel line.
Check fuel supply.
Add fresh gasoline with fuel stabilizer.
Remove carburetor bowl to drain fuel tank. Refill with fresh fuel.
CAUTION: Do not remove carburetor bowl when the engine is hot.
Set choke lever to RUN position.
Remove ice and snow from cap. Be sure vent hole is clear.
Stop engine immediately and remove spark plug wire. Tighten all bolts and make
all necessary repairs. If vibration continues, have the unit serviced by an
authorized dealer.
Replace drive belt. Refer to "Drive Belt Replacement" in the ADJUSTMENT/REPAIR
section of this manual.
Adjust traction drive cable. Refer to "Cable Adjustment" in the
ADJUSTMENT/REPAIR section of this manual.
Replace friction disc. Refer to "Friction Wheel Replacement" in the
ADJUSTMENT/REPAIR section of this manual.
Replace or adjust auger drive belt. Refer to "Drive Belt Replacement" and "Drive
Belt Adjustment" in the ADJUSTMENT/REPAIR section of this manual.
Adjust auger control cable. Refer to "Cable Adjustment" in the
ADJUSTMENT/REPAIR section of this manual.
Replace shear pin. Refer to "Auger Shear Pin Replacement" in the
ADJUSTMENT/REPAIR section of this manual.
Stop engine immediately and disconnect spark plug wire. Refer to WARNINGS in
RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION section. Clean discharge chute and inside
of auger housing.
Stop engine immediately and disconnect spark plug wire. Refer to WARNINGS in
RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION section. Remove object from auger.
