The BC Z pair is split and the pair status changes from "V-Split/SUSPVS" or "SP-Pend/TRANS"
to "Split/SUSPOP". The snapshot data is consistent with the P-VOL data and is ready to use

Workflow for consistency group pair-split

You can use consistency group (CG) pair-split to simultaneously split all the BC Z pairs in a CG.
If you use BCM, you can also use ATTIME Suspend to split the pairs at a specified time. If you use
RAID Manager or PPRC commands, you can simultaneously split the pairs in a CG, but without
time specification.
Use the following workflow to perform a CG pair-split:
1.
Define a CG to which you want to assign the BC Z pairs using BCM, PPRC, or RAID Manager.
2.
Ensure that all the BC Z pairs that are required to be consistent are assigned to the same BC
Z CG to ensure consistent backup operations.
For more information about assigning BC Z pairs to CGs, see
to consistency groups" (page
3.
Use the ATTIME Suspend feature and use BCM to register the split time for the BC Z CG to
indicate the time when you want to mirror the P-VOL data in the S-VOL.
For more information about registering split times, see the HP XP7 Business Continuity Manager
User Guide.
The split type changes to Quick Split and the BC Z pairs are simultaneously split at the scheduled
time. The registered split time remains in the storage system after the BC Z pairs have been
split. You can register a new split time.
NOTE:
of the secondary storage system or turning off its power cancels the pair-split operation.
For more information about registering a new split time for the BC Z CG, see
registering new split times for BC Z consistency groups" (page

If the pair-split operation fails, perform troubleshooting for CG pair-split failures (see
"Troubleshooting consistency group pair-split failures" (page
5.
If you have specified a split time and you are splitting pairs with shared volumes, you must
complete the following:
a.
Delete the split time for the BC Z pair that has an S-VOL related to the R-JNL.
b.
Restore the pair. Complete one of the following:
- If you are using RWC, see
- If you are using BCM, see the HP XP7 Business Continuity Manager User Guide.
