Consistency group pair operations with PPRC

With PPRC, you can split, resynchronize, and delete the pairs in a consistency group at the same
time. This section provides instructions for creating consistency groups and perform the pair
operations.
Procedure 16 To set up pairs in a consistency group
1.
In Remote Web Console, reserve a consistency group using the instructions in
consistency group" (page 22)
2.
Using PPRC, create the pairs using the CESTPAIR or PPRCOPY ESTPAIR command.
3.
In Remote Web Console in the CTG window, make sure that the pairs exist in the consistency
group as expected.
Procedure 17 To split the pairs in a consistency group
1.
Execute the CSUSPEND or the PPRCOPY SUSPEND command. The command splits all the
pairs in the consistency group. If you perform the command on a pair which has already been
split, errors do not occur.
2.
Use the CQUERY or PPRCOPY QUERY command to check pair status. Status should be Split.
Hosts can now access the data in T-VOLs.
Procedure 18 To resynchronize pairs in the same consistency group
1.
Resynchronize pairs by using the CESTPAIR or PPRCOPY ESTPAIR command. The command
resynchronizes all pairs in the consistency group. If you perform the command on a pair which
has not been split, errors do not occur.
2.
Use the CQUERY command or the PPRCOPY QUERY command to make sure that the pair
status is Pending or Duplex.
Procedure 19 To delete pairs in the same consistency group
1.
Delete pairs by using the CDELPAIR or PPRCOPY DELPAIR command. The command deletes
all the pairs in the consistency group.
Value
DDNAME = dname = JCL statement identifying
the volume.
SYSNAME = sysxxx = SYSNAME in the ASSGN
system control statement.
UNITADDRESS = ccuu = device number.
Primary volume (S-VOL): SSID, serial number,
channel connection address.
To delete all pairs in a consistency group, MAnn0
must be set. nn is the CTG ID.
Secondary volume (T-VOL): SSID, serial number,
channel connection address.
Primary or secondary volume CU number.
Description
Only one of the three parameters should be
specified. The italic term is the arbitrary name.
For example, dname is the arbitrary unique
name of the JCL statement which identifies the
volume.
These parameters must be used for successful
execution of the command.
