5. Setting up and starting up

5.1. General

In order to prevent damage to the lifting plant while set-
ting it up and operating it, the following points are to be
heeded:
Setting-up work is to be carried out by qualified per-
sonnel in compliance with the safety regulations.
Before being set up, the lifting plant is to be checked
for any damage.
In the case of level control systems, the minimum
water cover is to be ensured.
Protect the pump against frost.
The current leads of the pump must be laid so that
operation is safe and assembly/disassembly is easy.
Running dry is most strictly forbidden. We recom-
mend a level control system for this purpose.

5.2. Installation

The operator must exclude the possibility of conse-
quential damage, e.g. due to the flooding of rooms if
the pump malfunctions, by taking suitable measures
(e.g. installing an alarm system, a reserve pump or
the like).
The lifting plant is to be installed in such a way that
the lid can be opened. Make sure there is enough
clearance between the vertical/horizontal intakes
and the existing walls.
According to standards, drainage facilities in which
the lowest point of the odor trap lies more than 180
mm below, the lower edge of the lifting plant must be
connected to the plant by a suitable pipe loop of at
least 180 mm. (see installation examples)
