Drive Motor

MOTOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

See the Transmission section for information on removing or installing the motor.

warnings and instructions that are located in the
Service Guidelines chapter.

DISASSEMBLE

Note: Pressing the armature out of the bearing will damage the bearing. If removing the armature then the
bearing must be replaced.
1: Remove the motor from the vehicle. See the Transmission section for information on removing the motor.
2: Place marks on the two end caps and field housing so that they can be reassembled in the same orientation.
3: Remove the bolts holding the front end cap and remove the end cap and field housing.
4: Pull the brushes out away from the commutator.
5: Remove the plug from the rear motor housing and press the armature out of the rear bearing.
6: Remove the bearing retainer.
7: Press the rear bearing out of the end cap and discard.
8: Using a press, remove the front bearing form the armature.
9: Remove the nuts from the armature studs and remove the two brush assemblies.
10: Remove the seal from the front end cap.
