6.2 Applying the supply voltage

6.2
Applying the supply voltage
A supply voltage is required to operate the device. Please consult the technical data or the
type plate for the type and level of the possible supply voltage.
Refer also to the diagram Connections (Page 24)
Do not apply voltage in excess of the rated voltage limit.
Failure to observe this notice may result in death, serious injury, or property damage.
The limits given in the technical data and on the type plate must not be exceeded even at
startup or when testing the device.
Supply voltage fuse protection
Non-fused supply voltage may lead to device and equipment damage.
Always protect the device with an IEC approved 1 A fuse for IEC Class C.
If a fusible link is used, a suitable listed fuse holder approved by IEC has to be used. In
addition, a suitable isolating device shall be connected upstream in order to permit
disconnection of the device from the power supply.
Do not use voltage transformers to pick up the power supply.
Protecting the current measuring inputs
Open transformer circuits will result in electric shock and arc flashover.
Failure to observe this notice will cause death, serious injury or considerable damage to
property.
Only measure current with external current transformers. Do not use fuses for circuit
protection. Do not open the secondary circuit under load. Short circuit the secondary
current terminals of the current transformer before removing this device. The safety
information for the current transformers used must be followed.
