Part Removal and Replacement Procedures

Removing Devices in the Lower Drive Bay Area

The lower drive bay area holds two 3½-inch devices, typically a diskette drive and a hard drive. To remove the
devices in the lower drive bay area, remove the entire drive bay assembly from the server and then remove the
devices from the assy.
Perform the following steps:

1)
Turn off the server. Disconnect any external devices and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Unplug the power cord and monitor cord from the back of the server.

3)
Unlock and remove the left side panel.

4)
Remove the cables from the devices in the lower drive bay.

5)
Note the position of the cables so that they can be reconnected to the correct devices later.
6)
Lift up on the retaining clip at the rear top of the drive bay assembly and slide the assembly to the rear of

the server (A, Figure 3 - 6).

7)
Remove a device by removing the screws on the side and sliding the device out of the lower bay
assembly.

Be sure to support the drive bay assembly so that it does not fall and damage circuit
boards.
