2. Upgrading the camera microcomputer
(1) Upgrading
1) Insert a battery in the full-charge state and set the power dial to CAM.
Use a battery as far as possible to prevent the power from being turned
off instantaneously during upgrading. At that time, never use batteries
other than lithium.
2) Press the MENU button to display "CAMERA MENU".
3) Press the AE-LOCK button once.
4) Press the release button once.
5) Press the EXECUTE button once while pressing the
button.
6) Release each button and confirm that "DBG MENU" is displayed.
If "DBG MENU" is not displayed, press the EXIT button twice to exit
the menu and repeat steps 2) and later.
Do not press the different button in steps 2) to 5) or press the button
twice. You cannot enter "DBG MENU" in this case.
7) Select "VERSION" from "DBG MENU" using the
and press the EXECUTE button. Confirm that the "VERSION" menu
is displayed.
8) Confirm the version number of a "CAM:" item in the "VERSION" menu.
Confirm that the current version is older than the new version to be upgraded.
9) Select "safety: READ ONLY" from the "VERSION" menu using the
(DOWN) button and press the EXECUTE button to enter "safety:
UPDATE".
10) Select "CAM:" using the
button.
11) The file list in a card is displayed. Select the upgrading file copied in
step 1) from this list and press the EXECUTE button.
12) After the "Loading File" message, the "Update Flash Memory OK?"
message is displayed. If the displayed version number is correct, press
the EXECUTE button.
13) The upgrading is completed if the camera microcomputer is reset
approximately one minute after the "Now Version Up DON'T TOUCH"
message is displayed and if a new version is displayed in the "CAM:" position.
During upgrading in step 13), do not press the buttons of the unit or turn
off the power.
If the camera microcomputer is hung up with the message during
upgrading displayed, wait five minutes or more and set the power dial to
OFF. Pull out the battery once and then turn on the power again.
(2) Confirmation of version
After upgrading is completed, be sure to confirm the version.
1) Open "DBG MENU" according to the procedure of 1) to 6) in step (1).
2) Select "VERSION" from "DBG MENU" using the
and press the EXECUTE button. Confirm that the "VERSION" menu
is displayed.
3) Confirm the version number of a "CAM:" item in the "VERSION"
menu.
4) Press the EXIT button three times to exit the menu.
5) Set the power dial to OFF.
