The calibration is very important for the following reasons: A particular stimulation intensity is
experienced differently on various parts of the body. For this reason the level of intensity
®
sensed on individual channels of the StimaWELL
Stimulation Mat is not identical. To ensure
that the same level of intensity of the stimulation is experienced on all channels, each channel
is assigned a proportional of the main intensity in the basic settings of the Sti-
®
maWELL
120MTRS Control Unit. For example channel 3 can stimulate at 70 % of the main
intensity whereas channel 4 stimulates at 60 %. In this manner it is ensured that an even level
of intensity of the stimulation is sensed on each part of the back. Of course, it may neverthe-
less be necessary to re-adjust the calibration of individual channels in the interests of fine
tuning.
For new patients it is advisable to first carry out a body side related calibration. This can be
repeated at any time if necessary.
9.2.3.1
Body Side Related Calibration
After selection of the mat size a help text will
be displayed and this will guide you through
the calibration procedure. How to de-activate
the help texts can be found in Section 12.2.1.
During the calibration you will be guided
through the whole calibration procedure by
text instructions which appear above the
display. Touch on Continue, to start the cali-
bration.
Once you have completed all the prepara-
tions and your patient is reclining on the
®
StimaWELL
Stimulation Mat you may start
the stimulation. Now turn the rotary/pressure
controller to the right. Regulate the main
intensity up to a point where the stimulation
is clearly but pleasurably sensed. The stimula-
tion wave must complete a full transit at least
three times. At which point on the back of
your patient the wave is currently located is
visible by means of the orange coloured marking above the individual channel. The letters L
and R above and below the two electrodes on the cervical spine show which electrodes are
located on the left-hand side and which electrodes are located on the right-hand side of the
patient's back.
