SECTION 2 - USER RESPONSIBILITIES, MACHINE PREPARATION, AND INSPECTION
NOTE: The tower base boom should not lower and the red check
light in the ground console panel should illuminate. If the
tower base boom lowers or the light does not illuminate,
contact a qualified service technician to further evaluate
this condition before operating the machine.
TO AVOID MACHINE UPSET DO NOT USE MACHINE IF TOWER BOOM
SWITCHING IS OUT OF SEQUENCE. SEE SECTION 4.
IF THE TOWER BOOM LIFTS "DOWN" WITH THE TOWER BOOM TELE-
SCOPED "OUT", SHUT DOWN MACHINE AND CONTACT A QUALIFIED
JLG TECHNICIAN.
IF THE TOWER BOOM "TELESCOPES OUT" WITH THE TOWER BOOM
LESS THAN FULLY ELEVATED, SHUT DOWN MACHINE AND CONTACT A
QUALIFIED JLG TECHNICIAN.
TO AVOID UPSET IF TOWER BOOM SWITCHING MALFUNCTIONS:
— LOWER THE PLATFORM TO GROUND VIA MAIN BOOM LIFT DOWN
AND TELESCOPE OUT FUNCTIONS.
—TO AVOID SERIOUS INJURY, DO NOT OPERATE MACHINE IF ANY
CONTROL LEVERS OR TOGGLE SWITCHES CONTROLLING PLATFORM

MOVEMENTS DO NOT RETURN TO THE OFF OR NEUTRAL POSITION
WHEN RELEASED.
TO AVOID COLLISION AND INJURY IF PLATFORM DOES NOT STOP
WHEN A CONTROL SWITCH OR LEVER IS RELEASED, REMOVE FOOT
FROM FOOTSWITCH OR USE EMERGENCY STOP TO STOP THE
MACHINE.
5. Check hydraulic boom sequence cam valves by raising,
extending, retracting and lowering the tower boom.
Check for smooth and proper operation. Operate
machine from ground control.
6. Raise, extend, retract and lower boom. Check for
smooth operation.
7. Check capacity limit switch as follows.
DUAL CAPACITY LIMIT SWITCH (IF EQUIPPED)
a. place machine on level surface.
b. From platform control, with less than 500 lbs. (230
kg) in platform.
c. Raise tower boom to maximum angle.
d. Extend main boom until the capacity indicator lights
change from 1000 lb. (450 kg) to 500 lb. (230 kg).
