BASIC OPERATION

■ Receiving and transmitting

CAUTION: Transmttng wthout an antenna may damage
the transcever.
q Rotate [VOL] clockwse to turn power ON.
w S et the volume and squelch level.

e Push [Y]/[Z] to select the desred channel.
- When recevng a sgnal, the [TRANSMIT/RECEIVE] ndcator
lghts green whle audo s emtted from the speaker.
- Further adjustment of [VOL] may be necessary at ths pont.

] to select the output power f necessary.
- "LOW" appears when low power s selected; "MID" appears
when mddle power s selected; no ndcaton when hgh power s
selected.
- Choose low power to conserve battery power, choose hgh
power for longer dstance communcatons.
t Push and hold [PTT] to transm t, then speak nto the
mcrophone.

- Channel 70 cannot be used for transmsson.
y Release [PTT] to receve.

IMPORTANT: To maxmze the readablty of your trans-
mtted sgnal, pause a few sec. after pushng [PTT], hold
the mcrophone 5 to 10 cm from your mouth and speak
nto the mcrophone at a normal voce level.
NOTE: The transcever has a power save functon to
conserve the battery power. The power save functon act-
vates automatcally when no sgnal s receved for 5 sec.
To prevent accdental prolonged transmsson, etc., the
IC-M90E has a tme-out-tmer functon. Ths tmer cuts a
transmsson OFF after 5 mn. of contnuous transmsson.
