Traffic Segmentation

Traffic segmentation is used to limit traffic flow from a single port to a group of ports on either a single switch or a group of ports
on another switch in a switch stack. This method of segmenting the flow of traffic is similar to using VLANs to limit traffic, but is
more restrictive. It provides a method of directing traffic that does not increase the overhead of the Master switch CPU. In the
Security folder, click Traffic Segmentation to view the screen shown below.
This page allows you to view which port on a given switch will be allowed to forward packets to other ports on that switch. Select
a port number from the drop down menu and click View display the forwarding ports. To configure new forwarding ports for a
particular port, select a port from the drop down menu and click Setup. The window shown below will appear.
The user may set the following parameters:

Forward Port
Clicking the Apply button will enter the combination of transmitting port and allowed receiving ports into the Switch's Current
Traffic Segmentation Table.

Description
Check the corresponding boxes for the port(s) to transmit packets.
Check the boxes to select which of the ports on the Switch will be able to forward packets.
These ports will be allowed to receive packets from the port specified above.
