5 Installation
Follow the steps below to connect the S8BA UPS to the I/O connector of the Box PC and to configure
it correctly.
Refer to 5-4-4 Wire the I/O Connector on page 5 - 37 for I/O Connector details.

Ensure the revision number of the UPS is correct.
Refer to 3-9-10 UPS on page 3 - 25 for more information.

Connect and install the S8BA UPS.
Refer to the UPS S8BA User's Manual (Cat. No. U702) for details.
Connect the Contact port of the S8BA UPS to the I/O port of the Box PC with the connection
cable S8BW-02.

Power ON the Box PC.
Additional Information
First execute the Initial Power ON Procedure and Initial Settings procedure before continuing
with the next step when the Box PC is powered ON for the first time.

Configure the UPS.
(1) Connect the USB cable supplied with the UPS to the USB connector of the UPS and to the
USB connector of the Box PC.
(2) Configure the UPS using the UPS Settings Utility.
Refer to UPS Setting Utility Instruction Manual for S8BA/BU-2RWL for details.
(3) Remove the USB cable between the UPS and the Box PC.

Configure the Box PC to auto-start after power loss within the BIOS settings.

• Refer to A-1-5 BIOS - Boot on page A - 9 for power loss BIOS details.

Simulate a power interruption and confirm a correct shutdown of the Box PC.
• Start the Box PC
• Start applications
