Mini Milling Machine - Addendum
INTRODUCTION
You can use the mini milling machine as a drill press or as
a milling machine. A drill chuck is included for the former
function and optional collets and fluted end mills (both
sold separately) are needed for the latter.
Fluted end mills are not designed for use with the drill
chuck. The chuck is not large enough to hold all the mill
end sizes. Nor is the chuck designed to withstand the side
pressure of the milling process. Attempting to use the
fluted end mills with the chuck may result in damage to the
machine and poor mill work.
Princess Auto has Imperial and Metric Collets and Fluted End
Mill sets available. The sale of individual collets are planned.

INSTALLATION
WARNING! Remove the unit from its power source before
changing any accessories.
CAUTION! Use heavy duty gloves or an oiled cloth when
handling the fluted end mill (I) to avoid damage to the
hands or mill end's edges.
1.
Remove the arbor (G) and drill chuck (see Mini
Milling Machine manual).
2.
Remove the protective cover (A).
3.
Clean the collet (H).
4.
Insert the fixing pin (D) through the spindle box
(#49) into the spindle. Rotate the spindle by hand
until the spindle locks.
5.
Use a #14 open end wrench (C) to loosen the draw
bar, but not enough to remove it.
6.
Select the fluted end mill (I) and collet (H) that are
matched in diameter.
7.
Insert the fluted end mill into the
collet until it is seated. Do not
allow the flutes to enter the collet
as side pressure during cutting
can damage both the end mill
and collet.
8.
Screw the collet directly into the
draw bar (B) until hand-tight.
9.
Tighten the nut on the draw bar with a wrench.
10. Remove the fixing pin.
11. Reinstall the protective cover.

2.
Use a #14 open end wrench (C) to loosen the draw

3.
Unscrew the collet and mill end from the draw bar.
4.
Remove the fluted end mill from the collet and wipe
clean before storing.
5.
Check the collet's threads to ensure no debris is
lodged there. Clean and store it in the plastic case.
6.
Reinstall the arbor (G) and drill chuck (see Mini
Milling Machine manual).
7.
Remove the fixing pin and reinstall the protective cover.
OPERATION
The fluted mill ends are not designed for plunge cutting.
The mill end creates a horizontal flat bottom channel when
moved across the material's surface.
Drill a hole of the correct diameter into the material. Then
replace the drill chuck with a matching collet and fluted mill
end. Align the mill end to fit into the drilled hole. Follow the
operation instructions in the mini mill manual.
