NOTE
The chisel can be adjusted to 12 different positions
(in 30° increments). This ensures that flat chisels and
shaped chisels can always be set to the optimum
working position.
7.2.1.1 Chisel position adjustment

CAUTION
Do not operate the power tool with the switch set to
this position.
1. Turn the function selector switch until it engages
in the "Chisel adjustment" position. Do not oper-
ate the function selector switch while the motor
is running.
2. Rotate the chisel to the desired position.
7.2.1.2 Locking the chisel
Turn the function selector switch to the "Chiseling"
position and rotate the chisel until it engages. Do not
operate the function selector switch while the motor
is running.
7.2.1.3 Chiseling
1. Plug the supply cord into the power outlet.
2. Position the tip of the chisel at the point where
chiseling is to begin.
3. Press the control switch fully.
7.2.2 Operation with the needle adapter
(optional)
CAUTION
The needle adaptor is for use only with the TE 106.
NOTE
Working at low temperatures: The hammering mech-
anism works only when the power tool has reached a
minimum operating temperature. Bring the chisel into
contact with the base material and allow the power
tool to run under no load until the minimum operat-
ing temperature is reached. If necessary, repeat this
procedure until the hammering mechanism begins to
operate.
NOTE
Apply moderate pressure. Insufficient pressure re-
duces the life of the part. It must always remain in
contact with the working surface.

7.2.2.1 Fitting the needle adaptor 7
CAUTION
Wear protective gloves when fitting the needle
adaptor. You could pinch your fingers.
1. Disconnect the supply cord plug from the power
outlet.
2. Grip the sleeve on the needle adaptor, pull it
forward and hold it securely in this position.
3. Slide the needle adaptor onto the guide tube from
the front and then release the sleeve.
4. Rotate the needle adaptor until it is heard to
engage.
7.2.2.2 Removing the needle adaptor 8
CAUTION
Wear protective gloves when changing insert tools
as the insert tools get hot through use and they may
have sharp edges.
1. Disconnect the supply cord plug from the power
outlet.
2. Pull the sleeve on the needle adaptor forward and
hold it securely.
3. Remove the needle adaptor by pulling it away
from the power tool.
7.2.2.3 Selecting / adjusting the needle

CAUTION
Wear protective gloves when changing insert tools
as the insert tools get hot through use and they may
have sharp edges.
NOTE
The needle guide is interchangeable and adjustable.
Round or oval versions are available for working on
surfaces, edges or corners.
1. Release the wing nut on the guide sleeve.
2. Adjust the length of projection of the needles.
3. Tighten the wing nut on the guide sleeve.
