7. Adjustments

a) Adjusting the counterweight

Caution: Take care not to damage pick-up's needle while performing the following set-
tings!
• Turn the anti-skating control to the position „0".
• Carefully remove the needle protection from the pick-up system.
• Open the clamp of the pick-up arm holder and swivel the pick-up arm into the free space between the
pick-up arm holder and the turntable.
• Lower the pick-up arm lift by moving the lever of the pick-up arm lift in your direction (to the front). Care-
fully support the pick-up arm with a finger to avoid that it falls down and damages the diamond needle.
• Turn the pick-up arm counterweight until the pick-up arm hovers horizontally at the height of the turntable.
The pick-up arm must not tilt in direction of the pick-up or in direction of the counterweight, it has to be
balanced in the exact centre.
• Move the pick-up arm back to the holder and lock it in the holder to secure it.
• Now turn the adjusting scale (black adjusting ring) in front of the pick-up arm counterweight to position
„0" without moving the counterweight (hold the counterweight and just turn the black adjusting ring).
• Set the desired needle pressure. The manufacturer of the pick-up/system recommends a specific needle
pressure.
Turn the counterweight to set the desired value. The red line on the pick-up arm is the marking for this set-
ting.
The recommended setting for the supplied system is „3", i.e. 3g (2.5~3.5g). Turn the counter-
weight further than 2.5 until „0" is reached again.

b) Adjusting the anti-skating control

Set the anti-skating control in such a way that the displayed value corresponds to the needle pressure of the
used pick-up system. For a needle pressure of, e.g., 2g you have to set the anti-skating control to „2".
The recommended setting for the supplied system is „3".

c) Adjusting the height of the pick-up arm
Behind the pick-up arm there is a slide control for adjusting the height of the pick-up arm. This adjustment
is required, since pick-ups and systems have different heights.
When playing a record the pick-up arm has to be in an exact horizontal position; otherwise, the
pick-up diamond may be damaged by the wrong position of the record.
Proceed as follows to adjust the height:
• Put a record on the turntable, move the pick-up arm in a position above the record, and lower the pick-up
arm.
The turntable must not rotate!
• Unlock the locking lever of the pick-up arm to adjust the height.
• Use the slide control to adjust the height of the pick-up arm in such a way that the pick-up arm is posi-
tioned exactly horizontally.
Move the slide control slowly and carefully to avoid damage to both the pick-up and the
record.

• Finally, put the record player back into operation and check the adjustment.

being played!
