6. Setup, assembly, and connections

Carefully take all the product components out of the packaging.
When selecting the setup location, take into consideration the conditions in the room, like the location of the
next power outlet or the distance to other audio devices.
At the setup location the record player must not be exposed to direct sunlight, vibrations, dust,
heat, cold, or humidity. Keep the device away from strong transformers or motors. Set up the
record player at a sufficient distance to the speakers to avoid acoustic feedback.
Place the record player on a level, firm, and sufficiently large area.
Otherwise, there will be danger of the record player falling off due to its great weight. This will
not only damage the record player or any put on record, but there will also be danger of
injuries.
In view of the variety of paints and polishes used for furniture, it cannot be ruled out that the feet of the
device leave visible marks caused by a chemical reaction on the furniture the device is placed on.
Therefore, the record player should not be placed on valuable furniture without appropriately
protection of the furniture.
Do not fix the record player with screws, since this will damage the device and lead to loss of war-
ranty!
Before you assemble the device, lock the pick-up arm in the pick-up holder.
a) Attaching the turntable; putting on the felt pad
Carefully attach the turntable to the drive axle. Then put the felt pad on the turntable. You may, of course,
also use any other suitable turntable pad (e.g. a special antistatic mat).

b) Screwing on the counterweight

Attach the counterweight to the rear part of the pick-up arm. Make sure to attach the counterweight in such
a way that the black adjusting ring points in direction of the pick-up. Then screw on the counterweight in
counterclockwise direction.
Please refer to chapter 7.a) for a detailed description of the counterweight adjustment.

c) Attaching the pick-up system

Carefully insert the pick-up system into the contacts of the pick-up arm. Then tighten the lock ring of the
pick-up arm.

9. Special functions
a) Selecting the playback speed
You may either select one of the preset playback speeds of 33
or manually set the speed of the turntable.
Before you can set the speed manually, you have to switch off the „QUARTZ-LOCK". Press the
„QUARTZ" key until the LED on the right side of this key goes off.
The speed control or the DSP function „MASTER TEMPO" may only be used if the
„PHONO/LINE" switch is set to the „LINE" position (make sure to use the correct amplifier
input!)
• Slide control „PITCH ADJ."
Move the control to increase or reduce the speed (only possible, if the „QUARTZ-LOCK" is switched off
with the „QUARTZ" key. The LED next to the key has to be off).
• Three keys „PITCH SELECT 10% 20% 30%"
Use these keys to set the range for the speed adjustment. You may use these keys to set whether the
slide control „PITCH ADJ." is to cover a range of +/-10%, +/-20%, or +/- 30%.
The LED of the selected range is on.
• „QUARTZ" key for switching between preset and manual speed
Press the „QUARTZ" key to switch between a preset speed (33
table speed.
• „MASTER TEMPO" key for DSP function (DSP = Digital Signal Processor)
This function activates the integrated DSP (LED below the key is on). An activated DSP modifies the pitch
during playback, so that unnaturally high (squeaking) voices are avoided when the speed is increased.
• „PITCH BEND +/-" keys
These two keys are used to briefly increase or decrease the speed of the turntable. Use this function to
adapt the beats if you want to change between two pieces of music (e.g. played on two record players).
If the speed is already set to the maximum or minimum value any further increase or decrease
of the speed is impossible.
b) Switching the display mode (speed/BPM)
Use the key next to the display to switch between display of speed and display of BPM (Beats Per Minute).
