11. Maintenance and cleaning

Check the technical safety of the product at regular intervals, i.e. check it for damage to the mains power
cable, the housing, etc.
When it can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible, the product must be put out
of service and precautions have to be taken to ensure that it is not used unintentionally. Switch
off the record player, disconnect it from the mains voltage, and pull out the mains plug!
It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
• the device is visibly damaged (i.e. the power supply cable).
• the device does no longer function
• the device has been stored under unfavourable conditions (e.g. in an dusty, dirty, or humid environment).
• heavy strain has been put on the device during transport (e.g. because it fell down).
The record player does not require any maintenance by the user. Do not open the record play-
er. The product does not contain any parts that need adjustment or maintenance by the user!
Only a specialist who is familiar with the associated risks and the relevant regulations may
open or repair the product or carry out maintenance measures.
Live components may be exposed if the covering is opened or components are removed.
Capacitors in the device may still be charged, even if the device has been disconnected from
all voltage sources.
Prior to cleaning of the record player, disconnect the device from the mains voltage and
pull out the mains plug.
Dust may be removed with a clean, soft brush or a vacuum cleaner.
The use of a dry, lint-free cloth is sufficient to clean the outside of the product. For more resistant dirt, you
may moisten the cloth slightly with lukewarm water.
The diamond of the pick-up has to be cleaned with a suitable special cleaning tool. Please ask your spe-
cialised dealer for suitable products.
Do not use any cleaning agents as these may discolour the plastic material. The lettering may
also become damaged.
Wait until the device is completely dry before you reconnect the record player to the mains
supply!

• Make sure that there is sufficient ventilation; do not cover the product during operation.
• Set up the product in such a way that it cannot fall down. Otherwise there is risk of injury
through its weight. Select a sufficiently large, smooth, and stable surface.
• Do not connect the product to the mains power supply immediately after taking it from a
cold room into a warm one. The condensation produced may, under certain conditions, lead
to malfunctions or damage; apart from this, there is risk of an electric shock.
Wait for the record player (and, of course, all other components of your music system) to
reach room temperature before you connect it and put it into operation. This may take sev-
eral hours!
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. In the hands of children, plastic foil
and/or bags, polystyrene parts, etc., may turn into dangerous toys.
• Maintenance, adjustment, or repair work must only be carried out by a specialist/specialist
workshop.
• Thunderstorms can mean a risk for any electrical appliance. Therefore, unplug the record
player's mains plug during a thunderstorm. Also disconnect other connected devices from
the mains voltage and pull out the mains plug/s from the mains socket/s.
On the accessories market, a number of products can reduce the risk of damage to electri-
cal devices, e.g. overvoltage protection devices or similar lightning protection devices. There
is, however, no 100% protection against damage by stroke of lightning, even if these pro-
tection devices are used.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's Liability
Insurance Associations for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are to be observed.
• In schools, training centres, hobby and self-help workshops, use of the product must be
supervised by trained personnel in a responsible manner.
If you are not sure about the correct connection or if questions arise which are not cov-
ered by the operating instructions, please do not hesitate to contact our technical sup-
port or another specialist.
