Indicatively, the currents to be used with the different electrode diameters are listed in Fig. 4.
L
To strike the welding arc with the coated electrode, brush it onto the piece to be
welded and as soon as the arc is struck, hold it constantly at a distance equal to the
electrode diameter and at an angle of approximately 20 - 30 degrees in the direction
in which you are welding.
L
To strike the welding arc with the TIG torch, make sure that the protection gas valve
is open. With a rapid, sure movement, touch and then withdraw the electrode point
from the piece to be welded.
"Arc Force" Adjustment
L
It can be adjusted only when the welder is in MMA mode.
¾ Press and hold push-button "D" for 2 seconds to access the adjustment menu.
¾ Select the "ARC FORCE" mode (message "AF" in the screen).
¾ Press push-buttons "E" to select the Hot Start value needed.
¾ Press and hold push-button "D" for 2 seconds to exit the adjustment menu.
"Anti-sticking"
The welding machine is fitted with an automatic device that interrupts the current a few
seconds after having detected that the electrode has stuck to the piece to be welded. In
this way the electrode will not overheat. Message "AS" is displayed on the screen.
"Slope Down" Adjustment
At the end of welding, in order to have the "Slope Down" lengthen 2 times the arc of at
least 5 / 10 mm (top to bottom, top to bottom)
L
It can be adjusted only when the welder is in TIG mode.
¾ Press and hold push-button "D" for 2 seconds to access the adjustment menu.
¾ Select the "SLOPE DOWN" mode (message "SD" in the screen).
¾ Press push-buttons "E" to select the Slope Down value needed.
¾ Press and hold push-button "D" for 2 seconds to exit the adjustment menu.
Supply voltage and failure indicator "G"
Mains voltage pilot lamp
„ Red LED intermittent (slow): indicates that the machine is connected to mains, in
STAND BY mode.
„ Red LED permanently illuminated: indicates that the machine is connected to mains
and switched "ON".
„ Red LED intermittent (fast) indicates that a momentary mains fault has occurred. These
messages are displayed:
Hi = Too high supply voltage.
Lo= Too low supply voltage.
L
Press and hold button "D" for 10 seconds to check voltage of the mains. The voltage
of the mains expressed in Volts is displayed.
Thermal cutout signal "F"
The warning light switched on means that the thermal protection is running. Message "t"
is displayed on the screen.
If the duty cycle "X" shown on the data plate is exceeded, a thermal cutout stops the
machine before any damage is caused. Wait for operation to be resumed and, if possible,
wait a few minutes more.
If the thermal cutout continues to cut in, the welding machine is being pushed beyond its
normal performance levels.
Mod.3
¾ Set the welding mode by pressing buttons "D". The options selected are signalled by
the lit LEDs next to the different symbols.
¾ Select each individual welding parameter by pressing buttons "H". The welding parameter
to be modified is highlighted by a lit LED next to the symbol and its value is shown on
the display. Turn dial "E" to change the parameter value.
Stand By / ON button "C"
Press this button to switch on the machine or to set it to "Stand By".
When the machine is connected to the mains in "Stand By" mode, a red light flashes on
the display "G".
MMA / CELLULOSIC / TIG selector "D"
Select the welding process to be used "D":
MMA: welding with coated electrode.
CELLULOSIC: welding with cellulose-coated electrodes, suited to welding high-
pressure tanks and piping.
TIG: TIG welding with lift arc strike.
MMA welding: adjustable parameters "H"
¾ "I (Amp)" Welding current adjustment.
¾ "ARC FORCE" (led slope up) Increases the intensity of the welding current so that the
coated electrode does not stick onto the workpiece to be welded when the arc voltage
becomes too low.
¾ "HOT START" (led I%) Increase the intensity of the welding current to facilitate starting
coated electrodes.
"Anti-sticking"
The welding machine is fitted with an automatic device that interrupts the current a few
seconds after having detected that the electrode has stuck to the piece to be welded. In
950652-03 18/07/16
this way the electrode will not overheat.
Tig welding: adjustable parameters "H"
¾ "SLOPE-UP" Adjustment of time at which the welding current is brought from the initial
value (arc start) to the main value "I (Amp)". The initial value of the welding current is
pre-set as 50% of the main current value.
¾ "I (Amp)": Main welding current adjustment.
¾ "SLOPE-DOWN" Time at which, once the torch button is released, the welding current
is brought from the main value to the final value (end of welding). The final value of the
welding current is pre-set as 20% of the main current.
¾ "POST-GAS" POST-GAS time adjustment. In the "Aut" position the time is set
automatically by the machine between 5 and 20 seconds, according to the main welding
current and to the duration of the welding.
Remote (Foot pedal) control connection pilot lamp "J"
It illuminates when an optional remote (foot pedal) control is connected at the machine.
Thermal cutout signal "F"
The warning light switched on means that the thermal protection is running.
Recommendations for use
„ Only use an extension lead when absolutely necessary and providing it has an equal or
larger section to the power cable and is fitted with a grounding conductor.
„ Do not block the welder air intakes. Do not store the welder in containers or on shelving
that does not guarantee suitable ventilation.
„ Do not use the welder in any environment in the presence of gas, vapours, conductive
powders (e.g. iron shavings), brackish air, caustic fumes or other agents that could
damage the metal parts and electrical insulation.
L
The electric parts of the welder have been treated with protective resins. When used for
the first time, smoke may be noticed; this is caused by the resin drying out completely.
The smoke should only last for a few minutes.
Switch off the welder and remove the plug from the power socket before carrying out any
maintenance operations.
Extraordinary maintenance to be carried out by expert staff or qualified electrical
mechanics periodically depending on use. (Apply the rule EN 60974-4).
• Inspect the inside of the welder and remove any dust deposited on the electrical parts
(using compressed air) and the electronic cards (using a very soft brush and appropriate
cleaning products). • Check that the electrical connections are tight and that the insulation
on the wiring is not damaged.
Manuel d'instruction
Lire attentivement ce manuel d'instructions avant d'utiliser la soudeuse.
Les appareils de soudage à l'arc avec électrode enrobée MMA et TIG, ci-dessous appelés
