ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES
After extensive testing, the tires for your
car were selected to provide the best com-
bination of reliability, traction, load-
carrying ability, stability at high speeds,
tread life, and riding comfort.
To obtain this balanced performance,
and for your safety. it is essential that
you always maintain recommended infla-
tion pressures and stay within the load
limits shown for your car.
PLY RATINGS
While there is no universally accepted
definition of ply rating, this term is com-
monly used to describe tire load carrying
capa,pity. The 4 ply rating/2 ply conven-
tional tire and the type A radial-ply tire
(which has two plies) have the same load
carrying capacity as 4 ply rating/4 ply
ti'res because the strength of each ply has
been increased by using stronger cords.
Similarly, the 8 ply rating/4 ply
conven~
tional tire has at least the load carrying
capacity of recently produced 8 ply
rated/8 ply tires at the recommended
infi~~!on
pressures.
