COLUMN MOUNTED CONTROL
"P" PARK-The
uP"
position
locks
the transmission and rear
wheels
even with the
engine
running. To
prevent
damage to
transmission fully stop the
car
before
shifting
into
"P".
"R" REVERSE-Car must
be
fully
stol}ped
before shifting
into
or out of
reverse.

"D" NORMAL DRIVE POSITION

Car
starts
in
low
and
shifts
automatically
to second
and
high.
"2" SECOND GEAR MANUAL-For slippery
surfaces. traffic
braking.
Car starts

second.
Do
not
shift
into
"2"
at speeds above
70 mph.

MANUAL-Car
starts and r

low
gear
for sustain
ed
pulling power,
braking
on hilly
roads. When moving
selector
lever
from "D" or "2"
to

1"
(LOW),
the car remains in
second
gear until
25-35
mph
before
shifting
to LOW
gear.
Do n
ot
exceed

in
low gear. To avoid
skidding,
do
not
shiIt into

position above
20 mph on
slippery
surfaces.
Under
nonnal
road
conditions
the transmission
can
be
shifted
to "1"
at
speeds
up
to
70
mph.

quick
power and
acceleration

pass
