2.9 Cooling and Thermal Management 2.9.1 Fan Control Board The cooling system of PAC-4010 includes two key parts – Fan control board (2 units per system) and Fan module (6 units per system). ShMC receives thermal information from all sensors of PAC-4010, and communicates with the control IC on the fan control board through I2C Bus, then the IC will send corresponding PWM signal to add/reduce fan speed.

The PMM supports hot-swap; it is not required to turn off the chassis power before installing the board. To install PMM into the PAC-4010 chassis: 1. Align the PCB edge to the card guide rail. 2. Carefully slide the PMM into the system until the connector contacts into the backplane.

The FAN module supports hot-swap; it is not required to turn off the chassis power before installing the FAN module. To install FAN module into the PAC-4010 chassis: 1. Align the FAN module mechanical edge to the system FAN guide rail.

3.2.4 PSU Installation To install PSU into the PAC-4010 chassis: 1. Align the PSU mechanical edge to the system PSU slot. 2. Carefully slide the FAN module into the system until the connector contacts into the backplane. Make sure the orange latch is well locked.

3.3 Chassis Slider Rail Installation 3.3.1 Rack Mounting The PAC-4010 is designed to be installed in a standard 19-inch rack. Please follow the basic installation as below for rack mounting: Mount the mounting ears on the each side of the unit using the screws included and a screw driver.
