Brake pad support bolt
Silicone grease

CAUTION:
Do not allow grease to contact the brake

pads.
Remove any excess grease.

3. Install:
Rear brake pad
G
Brake pad spring
G
Rear brake caliper bracket
G
NOTE:
Always install new brake pads, brake pad shims,
and a brake pad spring as a set.

a. Connect a clear plastic hose "2" tightly to the
bleed screw "1". Put the other end of the hose
into an open container. The oil pan must be
under the hose end to receive the drain oil.
b. Loosen the bleed screw and push the brake
caliper pistons into the brake caliper with your
finger.
c. Tighten the bleed screw.
Bleed screw
6 Nm (0.6 m•kg, 4.3 ft•lb)
d. Install new brake pads and a new brake pad
spring.

4. Install:
Brake pad support bolt
G
Rear brake caliper cover
G
Brake pad support bolt
17 Nm (1.7 m•kg, 13 ft•lb)
Rear brake caliper cover bolt
7 Nm (0.7 m•kg, 5.1 ft•lb)

5. Check:
Brake fluid level
G
Below minimum level mark "a" → Add the
recommended brake fluid to proper level.
Refer to "CHECKING THE BRAKE FLUID
LEVEL" on page 3-17.

6. Check:
Brake pedal operation
G
Soft or spongy feeling → Bleed the brake
system.
Refer to "BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC
BRAKE SYSTEM" on page 3-19.

REMOVING THE REAR BRAKE CALIPER

NOTE:
Before disassembling the brake caliper, drain
the brake fluid from the entire brake system.
1. Remove:
Rear brake hose
G
Brake hose joint
G
Copper washers
G
NOTE:
Put the end of the brake hose into a container
and pump out the brake fluid carefully.
