Options

Installed options determine the functionality of the analyzer. There is a license associated with each option.
Every instrument has at least one option installed, "104", or "106". This option determines the maximum
frequency of the instrument. Additional options enable additional modes or other functionality.
Note that the maximum frequency of the instrument may not be "upgraded". Option 104 or 106 is installed in
the factory and may not be changed in the field.

To View Currently Installed Options

• Press System(7).
• Press System Configuration.
• Press Options.
• Press Show Options.
A list of the currently installed options is displayed.

Re-Installing Options

If an instrument looses all of its options (i.e. it reports or "shows" no options), the only functionality
available will be CAT up to 4 GHz.
When the A6 SOM board is replaced, it is necessary to re-load the license files because the license and
option information is stored on the A6 SOM board.
Process for obtaining and re-installing options:
1. Send an email to ctd-soco_support@keysight.com
• Indicate that you need previously issued licensed for a FieldFox repair.
• Model number and serial number of the instrument.
• Maximum frequency of the instrument from the label above the display.
• A list of options from the serial number label on the back of the instrument.
• A brief description of why options need to be re-installed. This information will help Keysight identify
recurring problems that may need special attention.
2. Within two working days, you will receive an email response with a license file attached.
3. Copy the license file to the root of a USB flash drive. Follow the appropriate instructions in the N9912A
Upgrade Installation Instructions (N9912-90005) to install the licenses. These instructions are available
by searching for "N9912-90005" on the Web at www.keysight.com.
